Hi, I’m Heidi.
Therapist. Teacher. Believer in the power of imagination.
I believe we are all capable of change, but insight alone is not always enough to get us there.
You may understand why you feel anxious, repeat a familiar pattern, or keep stepping into the same role, yet still struggle to do something different. Or perhaps you are a therapist, educator, or organizational leader looking for more creative, responsive ways to reach and support the people you work with.
That is where I come in.
I help people explore what is happening beneath the surface, reconnect with parts of themselves they may have lost or pushed aside, and discover possibilities they may not yet be able to see.
My approach brings together conversation, creativity, relationship, and action. Depending on what you need, we might talk, move, imagine, explore a memory, step into a role, experiment with a new response or simply slow down and listen to what is emerging.
Sometimes we need to do more than talk.
My background in theatre and directing taught me that stepping into a role can reveal something we could not access while standing on the outside. My clinical training taught me how to use that process safely, intentionally, and in service of meaningful change.
Throughout my career, I have brought these worlds together through psychotherapy, drama therapy, psychodrama, teaching, supervision, and organizational consultation.
What continues to inspire me is the moment when someone realizes that the role they have been playing is not the only one available to them.
This does not mean becoming someone else. It means having more freedom to choose how you want to respond, relate, lead, and live.
What it’s like to work with me
My style is warm, active, playful, direct, and deeply relational. I take the work seriously, but I do not believe it always needs to feel solemn.
There is room in our work for humor, imagination, uncertainty, and surprise. There is also room to move slowly. Creativity is never used to push past someone’s boundaries. Instead, it gives us more ways to listen, understand, express, and respond to what is needed.
Whether I am working with an individual, a group of clinicians, or an organization, I pay attention to what is happening in the moment rather than following a predetermined formula.
I want the people I work with to feel seen, supported, thoughtfully challenged, and increasingly able to trust their own instincts.
My Roles…
As a psychotherapist
I am a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT), Registered Drama Therapist and Board-Certified Trainer (RDT/BCT), and Trainer, Educator, and Practitioner of Psychodrama (TEP), with specialized training in trauma-informed and attachment-focused approaches.
In my New York City private practice, I work with individuals and groups using an intentional combination of talk therapy, drama therapy, psychodrama, creative arts approaches, and attachment-focused EMDR.
My work is grounded in psychodynamic and relational therapy, but it is never one-size-fits-all. I meet people where they are and make sure that the methods we use reflect their individual needs, comfort, and goals.
The therapeutic space is something we create together, one built on trust, curiosity, and acceptance. I believe that when words are not enough, creativity and action can offer other ways to express what we feel, explore what we have experienced, and imagine what might be possible.
As a trainer, teacher, and supervisor
I train and supervise therapists, creative arts therapists, educators, artists, and teaching artists who want to bring greater creativity, confidence, and trauma awareness into their work.
My teaching is active and experiential. We do not simply talk about an approach, we explore it, practice it, and consider how it can be adapted thoughtfully for different people, populations, and settings.
I offer workshops, intensives, ongoing training groups, and individual and group supervision, both nationally and internationally.
I am an adjunct professor at New York University, Lesley University, and Concordia University in Montreal. I am also a faculty member at the KINT Institute.
As a consultant
I partner with schools, mental health programs, arts organizations, and other professional communities that want to deepen the ways they support their clients, students, artists, staff, and colleagues.
I begin by learning about the organization, its people, culture, strengths, challenges, and the work already being done. From there, we develop practical, trauma-informed approaches that support communication, connection, emotional safety, collaboration, and sustainable care.

As a writer and contributor to the field
My clinical work, teaching, and research have been published in books and professional journals focused on drama therapy, psychodrama, trauma-informed practice, and experiential approaches.
