Upcoming Drama Therapy & Psychodrama Trainings

Try something new. Expand your role. Bring more creativity into your work.

These experiential trainings are designed for therapists, creative arts therapists, educators, and other helping professionals who want to deepen their work through psychodrama, drama therapy, and trauma-informed practice.

Participants learn by doing. Each training combines theory, practical skill-building, reflection, and opportunities to experience the methods in action.

Introduction to Psychodrama: A Three Session Training

Discover new possibilities. Step into action. Play a new role.

Explore the foundations of psychodrama within a small, supportive learning community.

Across three sessions, you’ll discover the structure and philosophy of psychodrama while experiencing foundational methods such as sociometry, doubling, role reversal, mirroring, and scene setting. Together, we’ll explore how these tools can support spontaneity, insight, connection, and change in clinical, educational, and community settings.

No previous psychodrama experience is required just a willingness to participate, experiment, and play a new role.

Introduction to Trauma-Informed Drama Therapy: A One-Day Experiential Training

Explore creative ways to restore choice, connection, and possibility.

Trauma can disrupt our connection to our bodies, our stories, our relationships, and our sense of possibility. Drama therapy offers creative ways to build resources and explore experiences that may be difficult to access through words alone.

In this one-day introduction, participants will explore the foundations of trauma-informed drama therapy through experiential exercises, practical tools, and discussion. Together, we’ll consider pacing, safety, choice, embodiment, aesthetic distance, and the importance of meeting people where they are.

No theater or performance experience is necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to explore.

Psychodrama Directing Weekend Intensive

Deepen your skills. Find your voice as a director.

Move from participating in psychodrama to developing the skills and confidence to direct it.

This experiential intensive focuses on the choices a director makes throughout a psychodrama, from warming up the group and identifying a protagonist to scene setting, selecting interventions, working with auxiliaries, and moving toward integration and closure.

Participants will practice directing at a level that meets their readiness, whether guiding a brief segment or working with a fuller piece of action. Through individualized feedback and shared exploration, we’ll consider how to remain responsive to the protagonist, the group, and the emerging action. Particular attention will be given to pacing, role development, clinical judgment, and maintaining a trauma-informed lens.

With a maximum of eight participants, this intensive offers a supportive environment for taking creative risks, refining your skills, and expanding your directing practice.

At least 45 hours of previous psychodrama training are required.

  • "This training was able to meet me where I was and challenge me from a place of acceptance. I felt comfortable to put myself out there because Heidi means it when she says that there is no wrong answer. She is so sensitive to the learning process. Her feedback made me want to do more because there she has a great balance between support and constructiveness. I felt very appreciated and cared for all throughout. I learned so much and left me wanting more!"

    — Fatima Calzada - training participant

  • "I don't say this lightly, but I've been describing my time in Montreal as a life-changing week. I can't speak for other participants, but I felt held by Heidi and the group. I felt the environment allowed me to feel safe enough to take risks, make mistakes, and ask questions. I also loved how we moved into experiential often before we could all intellectualize too much. Because we were given permission to say no, it actually made me want to say yes more often. As someone who works with trauma, I appreciated that Heidi works both from a trauma-informed and trauma-focused place. This training has shifted my trajectory and I now can confidently say I want to be a psychodramatist."

    — Katelyn Kidwell - training participant

  • "Heidi's training style strikes a unique balance of providing useful targeted feedback to encourage professional growth while respecting the personal and vulnerable experience of learning a new skill. She leads with levity, humility, and grace, which allows me as a trainee to feel comfortable in the process. I always leave her workshops with a fresh outlook on my therapeutic work, as well as practical tools to support my clients."

    — Shannon McKenna - training participant

  • "Heidi guides her group with sensitivity, discernment, and great support. The training balances theory and practice. The experiences allowed me to integrate the learning into my body and heart in an environment where I felt supported, challenged just enough, and safe."

    — Mélodie Berube - training participant
